i spent tues and wed of this week (my usual days off from the paper) back in philly shooting two freelance assignments — one of them for ESPN rise.
they are running online photo galleries and videos of some of the top street ball courts in the country.

all-berks sports spring 2010

all-berks is a special section that the reading eagle puts out every season honoring the best high school athletes of berks county (the paper’s coverage area). there are 10 photos: one for the top 10 athletes and then nine with a “team” from each sport. they are usually shot at a different location with the athletes wearing their uniforms.
it definitely was a challenge for me: making sure my light looked good and posing such a large group of people. shooting one or two kids is one thing — but 10 to 18 is a lot different.
the photos run HUGE in the paper (the section is pretty much a photo spread) as the focus is on mainly on the images with a little text and captions.
the spring 2010 issue which came out today featured four of my photos: baseball, softball and boys and girls lacrosse.
